A Walk by the Sea
Where is your mountain?
What is your river?
How did you come here?
Is the place where we were born the place were we belong? Is home a physical location, or is it the summation of our experiences? Is who we are what we look like, or is it what is inside of us? The search is the same for all of us. The experiences and the result vary from person to person.
A Walk by the Sea is both a performance and a ceremony of thanksgiving and healing, in which water, a medium of travel and a vessel of healing and reconciliation, is the conduit by which we maintain our connection to each other, to the natural world, and to the Divine. This performance is also celebration of community, and of finding home.
The latest CD by Mahealani Uchiyama, A Walk by the Sea includes romantic and haunting musical selections from the the Pacific Islands, Zimbabwe and Native America. A Walk by the Sea is the winner of the 2007 Hawai’i Music Award for Best World Music.
